[Lazy is very substantial because everyone has their level of laziness, but please do not expect me to tell you that you can lose lots of weight just by doing nothing!]
Do you know that I am actually a skinny person most of my life? I was severely underweight most of the time. I only started to gain weight when I started work and hit 23 when my hyperactive metabolism changed gear to a snail speed.
Taken during my Poly days; I think I am about 48kg here standing at 1.67m.
Less than year after I started work, I began to gain weight which I was very happy about because i love a curvy (at the right places) kind of body.
But as more months passed, I was still ignorant of my weight gain and let myself go haywire. This is my chubbiest at 65kg.
Fortunately, when I gained weight, everything is spread out evenly instead of going only to my thighs or arms or butt. I even managed to achieve bra cup size from A to C. haha Despite that, I generally didn’t like how I look in pictures, how I feel physically and how I get tired easily and I knew if I don’t control myself, there is a big chance of getting worst.
So I did something about it.
Like any person, to exercise/diet can be such a chore like the gym visits or go out of your comfy house just to jog and not eating the food that you want or not eating at all which is very bad practice. So what I did is do it at my own pace and depending on my level of laziness; without eating diet supplements (I never believe in them in long term)
By doing my lazy way of losing weight, I managed to lose 7kgs (currently 58kg) and 3 waist sizes (size 30 to 27) in 1 year. Surprisingly, I get to keep my boobs & butt! =P
It took me a while but what do you expect? If you are hard working of course, you can lose more weight in a shorter time period but like I said, this guide is for lazy people.
- Figure out the source of your weight gain.
Is it chocolates? Is it ice-cream or just generally eat too much? Cut It Down!
Mine is fast food. Still oblivious on the fact that my metabolism rate has slowed down, I was happily eating fast food 4-5 times a week. Not a good idea. Instead of depriving myself of the unhealthy but undoubtedly delicious food, I cut to 2-3 days.
- Eat until you are satisfied, not until you are bloated.
Most people are guilty of this especially when it comes to great food; you eat and eat and feel like you are going to explode. Listen to your stomach, Full Means Full; Don’t be Greedy. Don’t eat like your favorite restaurant is going to close the next day.
- Find every opportunity to walk an extra meter/kilometer.
Instead of taking the bus at the usual bus station, walk to one bus station ahead and take the bus from there or if you have a car/bike, park further from building’s lobby. Walk! Even for less than 5 minutes. On less lazy days, instead of taking a short bus trip from Eunos MRT to Kaki Bukit, I walk. That is a good 20min walk inclusive of a gentle slope.
- Don’t indulge in too many snacks especially at work.
When I started work, I won’t deny that I am one of those people who have a drawer full of biscuits and snacks. Throw all the snacks away. When you are hungry, drink plain water which increases your metabolism & make you feel full or eat some fruits and if you have the “charitable” colleague, don’t accept all the time like a hungry homeless person.

And guess what, I finally got myself a pair of jeans of the right size! That is how I found out I lost 3 sizes smaller and I still need to wear a belt. *grins*
Although my BMI is healthy, I still have to overcome my fats around my stomach and thighs. I have to tone up and keep on doing those walks.
Remember!
- Not every body is the same. The key is to know what makes you gain weight and stop/reduce it and move around as much you can.
- We are adaptable species, practice such lifestyle, it will become you and everything else comes easy
- Losing is the easy part, its maintaining is the hardest especially when you lost weight and busy "celebrating" and think you don't have to work so hard anymore
P/S: Since we got a Wii fit, I am trying to discipline myself to do the workouts as much as possible. I hope I can keep it up because hey, I am as lazy as any random person in the room. ;D
