Bullied with Name Calling?

Everyone has been bullied or name called at least once in the lives.

Being a very scrawny, geeky girl with spectacles and an overbite, I was an easy target for name calling.
I wish I have the guts to share my old pictures with you but you have to trust my word when I saw I was text book geeky and scrawny. I remember the first time Jhon saw those photos, I swore I saw him winced and had pity in his eyes. haha

Anyways, through out my schooling years, mostly my secondary school years, I was constantly bombared with insults everyday. No kidding.

Here are the few common nicknames I've been called.

Tales From The Crypt. Specifically, the Crypt Keeper

It sucks but I can't deny that I love the TV series.
[searching for his photos makes me want to find those shows and watch again =P]

Not forgetting, Olive Oyl, Popeye's Girlfriend.

Naturally, because of my teeth, I was also called The Rat.

And Horse Face.

Yes, people especially children can be very mean.

But as I enter my ITE years, though some nicknames still remained, there were also new ones.

These new ones are the ones that confuses me most because I was not sure whether should I feel insulted or not because although these people would call me in a mean way or mocking tone, what they call me does not seem demeaning at all.

One idiot would sacarstically call me Snow White because I was fair skinned.

Snow White? One of the disney princesses, is that an insult or compliment?

One of my favourite nicknames that was supposedly to be an insult was
Morticia Adams from The Addams Family.

As the group sacarstically laughed and gaffawed at their suppossedly witty quip, I gave a puzzled look and gradually a day dreaming smile because Morticia Adam is gorgeous to me.

Pale-fair skinned, sexy, mysterious and with a husband who adores her like crazy?
Woot! You can call me Morticia anytime!
Stupid assholes. hahaha

Anyways, its Halloween! Why not dress up as what these degenerates call you?

I also think it is a way to tell the fools you don't give a damn what they think and thank them for giving you awesome Helloween costumes ideas. hehe

See, I can secure at least 6 years worth of Helloween costumes!

Happy Helloween!!

BBQ Birthday for the October Babies

Yep, for 4 people.

Syazan,12 on 21 October,
Shibly, 3 on 24 October,
Norliah,36 on 26 October
Jhon, 28 on 29 October

The last time we had a mash up birthday was 2 years ago which was held at a chalet, this time, we booked a BBQ pitt and celebrated it by the beach at East Coast Park.

I was very excited can?

I even forgo my ex-school mate's wedding because I don't want to come for the BBQ as if I am a guest. I want to spend the whole noon playing in the sand etc with my nephews.

Which I did.
Tried to Build sandcastles, play with bubbles and balloons etc. Jhon and I had so much fun that we did not take much photos like we should.

Plus, God must love us extra on that day because despite the rolling thunder and news on heavy rain somewhere else, not a single drop of rain fell at our location.

Despite it all, literally ALL the guests invited to our 'syiok sendiri' party did not turn up and we waste quite an amount of food. Sad right?

Sort of, but everyone was happy and satisfied. That's all matters.

More pictures!!
Shibly loooves playing in the sand and he was uber nice and polite.
"Mak Su, can I try?" with his cute & sweet voice [on using the mouldings]

Love it when Shibly grins and check out his glamorous mommy and daddy with his cutie little bro, Syihab.
Yes, Shibly, Syihab, Syazan. It was a day filled with tougue twisters and calling them with the wrong names haha

This is my brother-in-law,Abg Awil. I did it as what he, himself requested. lol

Syazan got a soccer ball which he immediately played with in blink of an eye.
Shibly got several toys; Power Ranger acton figure, fishing gameset and mini toys
My sis receieved a maternity dress and Jhon a yoyo which he also immediately played.

It was a good but tiring night; Love it.

Are We Heartless or.... ?

...the movie is not what it is turned out to be?

I am talking about the hyped malay movie, 'Lagenda Budak Setan'

Friends and family were sharing on how touching the movie was and how it made them cry for most of the movie.

Now, I am never a big fan of romantic movies because most of them are always too corny, mushy and unrealistic. I know I sound like a girl with too many broken relationships but I am not. I just dont like unrealistic acts of love because these acts that you see in the movies are not naturally done by real men.

And girls LOVE to compare real men to these actors in romantic movies. I am not saying that there are no men who are so damn lovable, sweet and a gentleman, they are very rare (I'm lucky to snag myself one). Then how about the other men? They are forever cursed with girls who think they are never romantic enough etc. even they are. You have no idea how many "sob" stories I hear from both parties.

But I digress. hahaha

So I rarely watch lovey-dovey movies unless there is nothing else better to watch on TV and since 'Lagenda Budak Setan' is suppossed a must watch movie, I watch lor....

My verdict

I didn't cry nor teared so obviously it does not have an impact on me like most people. In fact, my sis, brother-in-law and Jhon were not affected either.

Maybe it was because Jhon and I kept on giggling on the mushy parts of the movie and for me, some parts were predictable. When it hit 3/4 through the movie, it became a little random which was weird but nothing was weird than the ending. I don't want to spoil it for others so all I can say is don't expect me to continue watching it. =D

I did a little of research because you cannot rant without background work right?

I found out from 'The Daily Chili' that this movie was in fact from a novel written in the 80s.

But do you what made me scoffed and rolled my eyes like a windmill?

Extracted:
"The author confidently adds that Lagenda Budak Setan is better than the Twilight saga and hopes it will put Malaysia on the map of film and literature."

Better than Twilight Saga? lolololol

He must put the bar very low to compare to the Twilight Saga because Twilight Saga sucks!

When I watched the first sequel, I fell asleep and please, don't mention 'Vampire Sucks', a spoof of Twilight because it sucks as bad! haha

okay okay, I digress yet again.

Another words, unless you are the lovey-dovey kind in nature, easily fallen for corny acts of love, yeah, go on and watch 'Lagenda Budak Setan'. Other than that, give it a miss.

Trekking at Southern Ridges Park

This is the 2nd time Jhon and I went trekking here.

For our 1st time, click here and here.
Definitely more pictures then because we were being tourist-ly like and snap almost everything in sight.

This time around, barely any photos. In fact, the only place we took photos was at Faber Walk where we side tracked to a location where there is a brief history of Singapore.
I briefly read it out loud for Jhon while he took the photos.

And yes, yes, another Merlion here. How many Merlions are there in Singapore?
Right on top, there were arrows on the ground showing the direction of neighbouring countries/locations in Singapore.

Guess what we found?
MANILA!
Naturally, I enthusiastically force ask Jhon to stand at the end of the arrow. hehe
[In case, some of you don't know, my Jhon is a filipino]

It was a nice pit stop but since we side tracked, we somehow went off the trail and wander randomly on our own until we got lost. Not terribly lost, just took a wrong turn and kept walking back and forth, trying to find the exit path to Henderson Wave.

We eventually found our way and walked and walked and walked... It was definitely faster than our 1st trekking since we didn't stop much for photo taking, plus, we were enjoying ourselves too much to even bother.

We made the entire Southern Ridges Park trail from beginning to end and from Runmeter app, here are the details.

Distance walked is approximately 14.99km and took us about 3hours. Could have been shorter if we didn't get lost, walking to and fro at the same area (you can tell where from the map hahah) and took photos at Faber Walk.

The trekking was so fun, somehow much more than the 1st.
We took a long bus ride home from Buona Vista to Parkway to cool down and take a short nap and went to have our lunch at Parkway Parade.

I even get to buy an exercise outfit! Our feet ached like crazy but we still wanted to walk around in the mall. hahaha But we agree that we should'nt get greedy and went straight home.

I Love Trekking!!

That Special Ultraman

Banyak-banyak Ultraman, Ultraman yang mana tak ada kaki?
[loosely translated: Among all the Ultraman, which Ultraman has no feet?]

My nephew, Shibly's favorite toy Ultraman!

Being boys that they are, this poor Ultraman has missing feet due to rough playtime and despite of his missing appendages, Shibly still prefers to play with it although my mom or his parents has bought replacement Ultraman (Ultramen?)

Nothing beats real love with no-feet-ultraman love.

^_^

Khairul Arrifin's Wedding

Yes, yes, another wedding and this will be the 2nd last for this month.

Khai is my ex-secondary school mate, just a mere acquaintance but if you invite, I shall attend unless it clashes with my plans.

Jhon and I were late so we took a cab. Luckily, the place is near to my house so we reached the destination right on time, when the bride and groom has just arrived from the bride's place.

Saw many many old school mates even the "seniors" but I just do what I do best, "relax one corner" with Jhon. When the bride and groom arrived, there were a few dancers performing. I am beginning to think this is the "in thing" for weddings.

Not a fan of pink but I can't deny that the cake looks great.

We hanged around for 1hour or so to see the 2nd outfit and cake cutting.

Congratulations Khairul & Noraiza!

Oh! by the way, i brought my mooncake box as my handbag to the wedding! hahaha

The National Art Gallery Open House

We were invited to go to the Official Launch of the National Art Gallery Open House and being slightly inclined to arts & culture, how can not I and Jhon miss it?

A quick info:
Singapore's City Hall & Supreme Court buildings will be transformed into the National Art Gallery by 2013 and they are having an Open house on the 9th & 10th October 2010 and due to overwhelming response, it will be extended to 16th & 17th October 2010! For more, click here

Additional info:
Coincidentally, my company (main contractor) was part of the tender evaluation for the restoration of the building and we are the lowest bid but we are not officially awarded the project so we'll have to wait and see.

Jhon and I were naturally early for the registration but it was okay, enough time to absorb the atmosphere, "steal" aircon by standing in front of it and drink some fruit punch. It was so freaking humid, I was glad that brought my fruity fan there.

Event started with a short speech after the arrival of the guest of honor, Mr Liu Tuck Yew and a series of prize giving ceremony for photography contest. Their awesome photographs will be exhibited for all to see.

After which, the official opening of the event by slotting the plastic City Hall and KABOOM!! Confetti!

All of us were then escorted to the grand steps outside for photo taking. Despite of the heat, it was pretty fun, mainly because the photographer was funny and we had to wait until there was no traffic to obscure the shot.

Guests got into the picture taking too! Can you spot me? ;)

And the tour begins! Jhon & I are suckers for old buildings because of their attention for details etc so we are always the last few, busy taking photos while the tour guide was very far ahead.

Less Typing, Picture Now!

That was the last shot of from the tour. Jhon & I hanged around for while in front of the air coolers and then head to Funan to dehydrate & munch.

But WAIT! There's MORE!!
Do you know there will also be a light show from 7th to 10th October from 8pm to midnight? Due to my late post, you have today to take the awesome night shots!

So dedicated us, waited for several more hours just to see the lighting facade.

We had a fun day and everyone should attend to the National Art Gallery Open House because soon, it will be nothing but part of history. Don't you want to be part of it and show pictures to your younger generation?
