Smokers = Moth?

I was going home from work at Simei and i saw a cluster of smokers smoking while surrounding the green bin. Not a special sight right?

Especially Singapore have a littering law whereby first time offenders will be fined S$300; even if it was just a cigarette butt or sweet wrapper. (Why do you think Singapore is one of the cleanest countries?)

[Jhon used to say that this sign says NO GLITTERING because the litter is shaped like glitters -_-]

Well, for some apparent reason, this particular bin is in the middle of human traffic.

It makes me think of the idiom, Like A Moth To A Flame.

So my imagination started to run wild...What if..... i place the bin in a random place? It would funny to see smokers still crowding the bin to smoke right?

How about near a cliff? At least they have a nice scenery. hehe

How about in front of a stampede of tigers?

In line of a shooting range?

A jetty with a hungry white shark?

It would be an interesting scene to watch eh? Yes, you should be able to guess by now that i am not a smoker. =D No offense yea? Just sharing my crazy thoughts. I have no problem with smokers, it's the inconsiderate ones that i can't stand and that is another story for another post.

By the way, do you know that we are having an event called "Live it up without lighting up"

Before you go "Oh no, here we go again, another boring campaign..."

It is not! Infact, they are having Hip Hop dancing competition, moving flash mobs, local bands performing, digital ambassadors of some of your favorite bloggers and more all at Orchard Road on 29th May from 4.30pm onwards.

Don't smoke lah.. hehehe

Sparks VS Slashers

Another weekend with Jhon’s team at Kebun Baru CC at Ang Mo Kio, this time, with the defending champion, Slashers.
Truth to be told, I was somewhat ready for Sparks to lose to Slashers since Sparks consists of people who barely knew each other, let alone practiced a lot.
We were the 2nd in the set list and when we arrived, the 1st teams just started playing.
Archers VS Kings
Both teams are rather good, aggressive and fierce.
With a cute boy in the sidelines. ^_^

As the game became to start for Sparks VS Slashers, Fizah and I get into our positions at the sidelines and  get ready to cheer and make up nicknames for the opponents. Haha

We really did not expect much from the game but little did we knew, Sparks are so good at defending that they kept on leading on the score board.
By the end of the 1st quarter, not only the player’s hearts are thumping, ours too from the excitement! Sparks even lead by 6 – 8 points at one time okay?!
By 2nd quarter, the Slashers managed to keep up but Sparks still maintained their lead. Could it be true? Sparks have improved so much that they are neck to neck with the Champions!
Until things got sour….

Sparks keep getting fouled. Now, I know nothing much detail in basketball but I know for a fact that there are many times Sparks didn’t deserve it and we keep spotting a couple of guys, that we nicknamed, “William Hung and Jonathan” keep fooling Sparks into a foul.
What is worst! Jhon also said that the referees ‘kelong’ (one sided) and always fouled Sparks for no proper reason. So, because of the constant fouling over the 3rd and 4th quarter, the opponent managed to take over and lead.
LEAD FROM FOULS NOT SKILLS!!
We are so frustrated just by watching but we could do nothing but stomp our feet and cheer, shout at the court. At least, Spark’s manage to maintain their ground and when the game ended, the score was..
62:63 with dirty Slashes leading.

ONE(1) point  against defending champions with rusty players. I think, it’s a big win for our team.
You know what adds fuel to the fire? As we were going home, Jhon over heard one of the opponent’s conversation on his cellular answering in a boastful way “OF COURSE WE WON!”
PFFTT!! By FOULS!! Without them, Sparks would have won okayyyy!
Sadly, Jhon said that their strategy was legitimate, it’s just that the referee seems to be one sided.
Frustrated MAX BUT we try to remind ourselves on the silver lining.
Sparks is improving very well, with extra effort, they can kick Slashes’s ass even without any practice or physical strategy meeting. HAH!
By the way, my Jhon managed to get 2 baskets. Looks like someone is not rusty anymore… He said on his good old days, he can score average 20 point. I can't wait to see him at his fullest potential. ^_^

Final update of my Lasik surgery

Came back from my 1 month appointment after Lasik surgery which is also my last visit to the clinic.

Guess what?

I have 6/6 vision!

It was surprising since i was told that may able to achieve only 97% of perfect vision but my doctor did his job so well that I can proudly say I have perfect vision!

I completely encourage Lasik to anyone who needs it.

 Happy happy joy joy!

"I know you want me, you know i want ya!" (well...not really)

Mr 305, well known as Pitbull was in Singapore on the 18th May 2010.

So to break the streak of poppy and rocky music genres, Jhon and I decided to go for Reggaeton. We also asked my best buddy, Fizah to come along because i know it was her 'cup of tea' and to make it special, we bought it for her belated birthday present which was on 30 March. Talk about belated! and i only told her on the concert day itself. hehehe

Guys envy him for how suave he is and how he is constantly surrounded by hot and sexy girls and girls drool over him because.... well, look for yourself!

Makes girls like Fizah drool and go nuts!

(sorry Fizah! I love you! *cowers*)

Not only that, he also sang hit songs like "I Know You Want Me (Calle Ocho)", "Blanco", "Crazy" and "Hotel Room Service"

UNFORTUNATELY....

He only officially started the show 1 hour 30 minutes LATE.

The opening act who was a local DJ, DJ Inquisitive had to play until 9pm (Pitbull suppose to perform at 8pm) and when Pitbull's crew went on stage, they had to play for another 30 minutes.

By 9pm, usually crowds would start chanting, booing and getting agitated but not this crowd. Everyone was happily dancing away as if they are in a club. Good for them but hello?! we pay money to watch Pitbull not, club in Fort Canning; perhaps good for organizers to have such good crowds but not for me.

It's either everyone just loooooves clubbing, too drunk or it's just us who just gets bored after 45 minutes.

Especially with smokers who don't know how to 'puff up towards the sky' and beer smelling people.

At least there was some form of entertainment; we saw typical Ah Bengs dancing like they always do, geeky men who danced at the wrong beat and... of course, the young lady with the old man.

Like this guy, in the cowboy hat and you know how he danced?

He waved his right hand, left hand spanking on a phantom butt while looking at his "girl" and bit his lower lip.

EEEEEEEwww...

Well, eventually Pitbull came on stage, do his 'thang and perform and the crowd went wild. I heard his female entourage will be around but i was sadly disappointed.

He sang hit after hit and everyone danced non-stop, including an indian couple infront of me who danced wildly left and right as if they are in a Hindi movie.

The performance ended at about 11+pm but his crew went on. Many stayed over while old fashion us went home because we have work the next day. haha

Generally, the whole concert was pretty okay. I wouldn't say it was fantastic or anything even though i admit i was spasmodically moving to the groove dancing most of the time.

I hope Fizah enjoyed the concert because that was the main thing. ^_^

Shiby trying to say "Samsung"

My cute 2 year old nephew trying to say "Samsung" and went to buy an iPhone?

Watch & Enjoy!

Please Don't Go....

I had this scary nightmare a few days ago and I just can't get it out of my head.

I dreamed that Jhon and I were walking around in a mall that I could not recognize. We went to several shops, joked around like we always do until we got hungry for lunch.

We decided for Delifrance which was located at the first level. The Delifrance was bigger than usual with 2 types of area, one area which was near the counter and one way far to the left. We always choose seats away from the crowd so naturally we choose the furthest seat.

Jhon being the gentleman that he is, ordered for the both of us while I waited, playing with his iPhone. After a few minutes, he came back with the food but went away again to get the drinks.

He never came back.

I was confused at first, wondering why did it take him so long but I just couldn't find him. I can't call him either because i was holding on to his iPhone. I panicked.

For all I knew, I was in my house, crying to my family, saying that Jhon had gone missing and I don't know what to do except to call the police. All kinds of things ran into my head, was he kidnapped? did he simply leave on his accord?

What makes things worst was that my family do not understand the seriousness of the situation. They said that Jhon probably went for a walk or something and I don't have to call the police. I kept telling them, WE WERE HAVING LUNCH, HE WAS GETTING DRINKS AND SUPPOSED TO COME BACK!!

They still didn't get it. They tried to comfort me with illogical scenarios and I got more and more frustrated. I kept on crying and crying, roaming to nowhere, not knowing how to find him.

I woke up soon after that.

I still get sad when I think of the nightmare. I know its just a nightmare but I can't deny the mental and emotional stress that was so vivid.

I don't want to lose my Jhon. =C

Jhon's Basketball Tournament

Jhon is officially in a basketball team called “Sparks” and he is in a team that supports a division in Ang Mo Kio which was weird since he lives no where near there. His colleague simply asked him if he wanted to join and how can he resist right? Basketball is his ‘thang’ although he is uber rusty now.

He had several practices with his team which was relatively new so they do not know each others strengths and weaknesses yet; especially there was always someone missing due to work. What makes things worst, half of the time, Jhon could not play more than an hour because for some apparent reason, his allergies kept acting up.

He will get extremely itchy, face swollen and get real dizzy; plus, i was not there during his practices so he has deal with it on his own but thank God his mates were nice enough to help with whatever they can.

Anyways, the tournament starts on 08 May 2010.

Sidetracking: We were suppose to meet up with Fizah at AMK bus interchange so we took bus no. 65. We were already nearing the end of the bus trip when Jhon realized we took the wrong bus. It was supposed to be 25, not 65. Hahahha I think it was due to the heat that made us cranky and were not thinking straight. We went down at Somerset and took the train to AMK.

Setlist of the day:

Kings vs Slasher

Sparks vs Summerset

Being typical Filipinos (like typical malays), being late was their forte so the game started 1 hour later. But it was cool, we managed to grab a dinner and chit chat before the game while the first game started.

I thought Spark’s jersey was abit dull with the grey but it turns out that it looks quite good. Jhon of course chose the number 23 (the date we officially started our BG relationship) and surprisingly, instead of putting his name on his jersey, he requested for ‘Zurjon’; as in Zura-Jhon. I was laughing so hard for his corniness. It was sweet but oh-so corny.

I took a quick shot of his team because i was so damn shy and i was sort of frustrated because these dudes won’t stop moving!! Can’t even see Jhon in this picture. Hahaha

So they started their warming up session...

And game started..

I got to admit, Summerset was damn good. It was clear that they have been playing as a team for many years unlike Sparks. Summerset really impressed me with their killer passes and aggressive approach while Sparks are struggling to protect their ball and misses.

Despite of it all, Sparks still manage to keep up with the scores.

When it reached 10pm, the lights of the community centre (auto) went off. With 1.43minutes to go with a score of 58:59 where Summerset was leading, it was a definitely climatic moment.

When the lights went back on, Sparks wowed everyone with their sudden flicker of energy, putting in basket after basket leaving no chance for Summerset. As soon as the bell rang, the whole Sparks team and *ahem* supporters went wild!

Sparks won, 64:59

It was crazy, maybe Summerset let their guard down or Sparks managed to give to ball to the right guy, whatever it was, it was a great come back. I can’t wait to watch more, i have always been inclined to basketball/rugby more than soccer anyways.

Sidetracking: Fizah and I are not the only supporters, there are several wives/girlfriends. We didn’t sit together but a couple stood out from the rest.

Especially the one in the middle, she is the wife of the Spark’s team leader and OH.MY.GOD. She shrieks every moment the ball is near the basket at either side. Here i was, joking with jhon that i would scream for him (which i eventually didn’t) and a woman simply let out annoying shrieks and pretended to be shy about it. What was that all about?

Yea yea, i know, they are probably nice people but that’s simply my first impression of them. I am sure they have certain impressions of us too. Tee hee!

I am so happy that Spark’s won their first game and too bad Jhon didn’t get a basket but at least i manage to see him in action. ;D

Go Sparks Go!

3 Reasons Why Aunties Should Not Be A Sales Promoter

  1. Gift of the gab is not exactly a good thing when you simply wish to browse for items and you are bombarded with information you don’t wish to hear. Sure, you politely smile and say you are just glancing through items but she won’t give up. She will press on and try to stuff all kinds of information in a product that you looked for 3 seconds.

  2. From my experiences with some aunties, they are tactless. Quite a number of times, as I was browsing some hair mask/conditioner, the auntie would blatantly tell me “You have very dry hair ah!” while touching my hair and continues with “So dry you know, very dry” and shakes her head.

Well, since I am in the hair products section and looking at hair treatments, I would think it is obvious that I am well aware of the condition of my hair and if I wished to be pointed out the obvious, I would go to a modeling agency where they can freely slam me from head to toe
. Thank you for publicly damaging my already low insecurities, auntie...

Just yesterday (which made me write this post)
, I overheard an auntie sales person calling her customer’s feet fat.

  3. If they “like” you, they will get too personal and talked about their family members. About how her daughter is very choosy in choosing a partner or her son is as tall as me. It was clearly a call for help for lack of communication at home but as a customer/stranger, it is very awkward and all you can do is smile, nod and slowly taking 1 inch of a step back as they follow you.

I am not saying that they should not work as Sales Persons in fact, I am happy for them for getting a job and get their body and minds moving but I just wish they are aware of the boundaries between a customer and a promoter.

Do you have your experiences with the typical Auntie Sales Promoter?
