Van Gogh's Painting Made of Eraser Dirt

I like to create or recreate something out of random things. This time, my project is made of something so random yet something you see everyday.

Eraser Dirt. As in the particles left over after you erase something.

With the help of my Jhon, we decided to recreate Vincent Van Gogh's painting, Starry Night. I chose this painting because it is one of his well-known paintings and the eraser dirt can imitate closely his cypresses which are characteristic impasto swirls.

To make the eraser dirt colourful, we simply used color pencils to erase.

It took us a lot of work but once we got used to it and establish a good system, we manage to collect many dirt of all sorts of colors.

I printed out an edited version of the painting to act as a base layout and armed ourselves with glue and tweezers.

and this is our final outcome. ^_^

I think it looks great. My initial idea was to fill the entire base with eraser dirt but i realized that it is better like this because the detailing stands out more and i was afraid that we may not able to achieve the right and neat details since this is our first time.

What do you think?

Colors enhanced with Photoshop.
