Believe or not, this is the first time for my mom, sis, Jhon, Fizah and I to travel to Thailand. Abg Awil (sis's hubby) was the only one who had visited Thailand before. We decided to travel in a tour since most of us are first timers and wish to experience Thailand's culture and not just plain shopping.
*ahem* big luggage but rather empty inside for obvious reasons.
*ahem* big luggage but rather empty inside for obvious reasons.
Our departure was on 1st April 2010 at 1.30pm. We met fizah at the airport, had a Burger King breakfast and got ready to check in. We were pretty much excited about it. We will spend 4D3N. 1 day in Bangkok and 3 days in Pattaya.
It was a 2+hr journey and we traveled by Cathay Pacific and this is only the second time i sat in a plane. Ok, 3 if you count a Cessna plane =P We had lunch which was quite alright and enjoyed the fantastic view outside.
When we reached Bangkok Suvarnabhumi International Airport, we were welcome by Mr Victor who was waiting for us with a piece of paper with my name on it. We introduced each other and we were so happy to find out that our tour group would be very small; a couple will join 6 of us. Syioookk right?
I was doe-eyed and can't believe that i am here at Bangkok. You can laugh at me for being such a 'mountain tortoise' but perhaps if you know me personally, you would understand why.
Anyways, we finally reached our hotel at Bangkok which is Baiyoke Boutique; not to be confused with Baiyoke Sky which is the well known towering hotel.
The lobby was fantastically artsy which i loooveee.
My room which i shared with Jhon and Fizah was hot pink! I am not a fan of pink but i got to admit, it looks great. Fizah was ecstatic with the decor and jhon just went meh. lol
Funny thing was that it was only the end of the entire trip that i found out that the rooms for the rest of my family was very "cheap-hotel-like" with white walls and they were amazed at our rooms when they saw it in pictures. haha
It was 4+pm by that time and it was free and easy so what else? Everyone attacked Pratunam Market.
There was abit of commotion among us because someone (it's not that i don't want to say who but can't say it haha) kept wandering way too far away and mom got frustrated. Even when they kinda misplaced me and Fizah (although i did told them which shop i was going), she got pissed. So she told us to separate if it makes things "easier". I didn't want to because we came as a family so we walk as a family right? but to avoid more frustration, we separate.
Jhon, Fizah and I walked around the market and found awesome stuff. Will share what we got later in the post. I even found a shop with all blinged shoes!! They are so glamorous as if its for some high end party or wedding that i would feel stupid for buying it for no occasion. =X
After a few hours, we got hungry and found ourselves a quiet and humble halal restaurant and ordered Rice, Brocolli with soy sauce, Tom Yam Soup, Squid Mayo and Thai Green Curry Chicken. Delicious max!! We even have a little girl shyly checking us out.
After a few more window shopping/shopping to whoever applicable lol, we finally went back to the hotel.
Fizah bought the most. Luggage bag, tops, bottoms, cushion covers, sunglasses, shoes....
Jhon bought the standard Thai singlets for himself, Abg Jamil and roomate. He also bought a Malboro cigarette holder cum lighter. Normally, i am against buying stuff that encourages smoking for i suppose for heavy smokers, i am abit lenient plus, its sooo cool! Jhon's awesome find would be the ORIGINAL Adidas shoe. cheap cheap
As for me, i am a shame to all women in the world. I bought NOTHING for myself. I should win an award for the "Woman who does not buy anything for herself while in Bangkok". I was thinking of my dad the entire time so i bought him a Chelsea cigarette holder cum lighter. When Fizah decided to go out again to buy one for herself too, Jhon bought me a shirt because both of them felt bad/weird that i didn't get anything for myself. -_-
Well, i have always declared to everyone, i hate shopping and i am way too practical to buy any random nice things. Have i proven my point yet?
To be continued.....
