Penguruan Pencak Sendeng Camp 2016

My two nephews, Shibly and Syihab are currently are participating in a silat group called Penguruan Pencak Sendeng since early this year. Even Abg had joined as a fighter for while until he tore off his ligament on his bicep so it was just his 2 boys while he and Kak Yana joined as a team managers.

I've watched them practiced and had fought before and it was so amazing to see the young ones strutting their stuff. That was why we were more than happy when Abg and Kak Yana asked us to be the photographer and personal videographer for their camp. It was so last minute and we only had time for 2 of the 3 days. Since they were okay with it, then okay lah. Plus, a little moolah on the side was great too. hehe

The camp was held on Friday, Saturday and Sunday and as much as I enjoy camping once in a blue moon, I don't think I could survive 2 nights of camping with such a big group, no less. On top of that, it was a rainy weekend which was fun to experience (oh boy, did we all got muddy) but clean up must be so leceh. Jhon and I were glad we get to go home since we needed to charge our stuff.

We missed day 1 but it was mostly silat training, camp chit-chat of goals, discussions, night walks and such. Day 2 was the interesting day because it was that's when they had their matches among themselves. There was also supposed to be team performances too but the day was getting late plus, one team was exceedingly in the lead for their best overall team that it would be fruitless.

I am going to post only some of the photos because there were tonnes.

After their morning walk and reflections, everyone had their breakfast.

Morning warm up.

And the inter-teams matches starts!

I can't resist the cute kiddos.

Father and daughter moment.

Random eagle photo because it happened to soar above us and even call cried out which was amazingly, was a first time for me to hear in real life. Usually, I would hear eagle cries on NatGeo or Assassins Creed.

This boy was excepted from silat but he better buck up next year. He is going to be in Primary 1 and that cute boy act is not working as well as before.

Shibly won his first official fight here. I'm biased so I'm going to bombard many photos of him.

War/ fighting face is never pretty huh? haha

Daddy as his corner man. Abg was beaming with pride that day.

We didn't have any photos of it but after the constant rain, there were plenty of mud all around. The big boys used a tarp for a mini slip and slide. Before we knew it, everyone joined and what supposed to be dumping people on the soapy water tarp, everyone started to dump people on the mud!

Everyone ended up muddy like swamp people! It was fun to watch and probably fun to experience but the thought of cleaning up in a public toilet was horrendous, wasn't it?

Next day, after breakfast and end of camp reflections, it was award ceremony.

Final verdict, it was a successful camp with entertaining moments almost every part of the day and I got really tanned, even more tanned when Jhon and I visited to Cambodia. Go figure!

Thanks to Abg and family for allowing is to be a part of the camp.

Oh yeah!

It was so hilarious when they were doing the lost and found segment where there were unclaimed towels and underwear! Typical camping moments!

FIFA Grassroots Workshop & Festival 2015

A while back, my 2 nephews, Shibly and Syihab joined the FIFA Grassroots Workshop & Festival 2015 organised by FAS Cubs. They don't actually love soccer but just love to kick a ball. haha Since it's something they could do during holidays (for free), their dad, my bro let them attend.

Since I'm not working, I was tasked to take them to and fro Jalan Besar Stadium on weekdays. Too bad Irfan didn't participate because he is the one who really loves soccer.

On Sunday, we went there as a family, Bro, SIL, the boys, Mak, Jhon and myself. Looking at the younger kids in their over sized vests are always so cute. Being 8 years old, Shibly was rather independent and being a good boy as always listening to the coach.

Syihab was hilarious. He had trouble dribbling and basically every aspect of soccer skills needed. But what he lacked in skills, he made up by being adorable. By day 1, almost every coach knows his name

On the way for early dinner after soccer practice.

Bro's friends and their kids who also had participated.

On Monday, with the help Mak, we sent the kids for their session. Most of the time, everyone was playing mini-games among their own group.

Tuesday was when the storm arrived. It had rained so heavily even up to 2.15pm and since we had to take cab, we knew it would be hard to even catch one. In the end, we decided not to go which led me some regret.

The festival was on a Wednesday but I couldn't send the boys because I had other prior commitments so Kak Yana had to take leave.

Fortunately, bro came along too and had taken a video of their grand finale because it would complete my vlog! Too bad the video quality was not consistent but at least it's complete hehe.

By the end of the festival, I was told everyone had recognized Syihab and even the older girls were giggling and swooning over him. OMG.. Is that a good thing or bad thing?

Laser Tag At East Coast Park

For Shibly's birthday, Abg brought us to Tag Team at East Coast Park Parkland.

Jhon and I have went there before when they recently opened but we went to the Battle Zone with bigger guns using a military simulated gun replica weighting 2.5kg called the Cobras. The Cobras has a shooting range of 150-200m which could cover the distance of the Battle Zone from one end to the other. Minimum age allowed is about 6-7 years old but as long as the kid can carry the gun, there is no problem! The place is not air-conditioned but sheltered. Of course, I lost to Jhon but it was legit fun even it was just 15 minutes.

Since we have Syihab (5 years old) around, we had to go to the Mystery Room. It's smaller compared to the Battle Zone but it's air-conditioned. There is no need to wear a sensor vest unlike the Battle Zone. The gun used is called the Scorpion which is smaller and weigh less than 1kg. Even though this room is catered to younger kids, adults can play too!

In one glance, paying S$15 for just 15 mins may seem steep but trust me, if you really play properly, you will sweat!

For the first mission/ game, everyone had played except for Mak. She thought it would be too tiring for her even trying to coax her. We had our first round with Abg, Kak Yana, Shibly, Syihab, Syazan, Jhon and I. Abg, Jhon and I had sweat like crazy because we were really into it. lol

Red Team consists of Abg, Kak Yana and the 2 kids while Blue Team was Syazan, Jhon and I. Of course, we won lol.

The kids wanted to play some more so Abg requested another round but this time all of us kept insisitng that Mak join us. She was apprehensive when she saw us covered in sweat but I just told her, she could be a 'camper' lol. You know, just hide but only shoot when someone appears in front of her. In the end, she joined us.

She had a great time! If you watch my vlog below, you could see her scurrying here and there chasing her grandchildren. haha We did fell but it was a slow motion fall so it was okay.
So Blue team won again and you could see how 'unhappy' Kak Yana was. It was so funny.

Here's the laser tag vlog. Sorry for the shakiness and grainy video. It's hard to concentrate to record properly when I am also trying to enjoy the fun, you know. Plus, I don't have any gimbal or any sort. Mystery room was not brightly lit because mystery mah... lol

We headed to CentrePoint and had lunch at Desa Kartika. It's the first time Jhon and I went there and it's good to see the place in person since we did knew that weddings can be held there. Actually, the ambiance was pretty nice and cozy. It's the place was not that big but definitely not cramp. As for the food that day, errm... not that awesome though. Although Abg and Kak Yana did mention it was good quite some time ago when they had eaten here.

Abg and Mak 'sleeping' lol

Afterwards, we headed to Toys R Us express. Yet again, first time there and for an express store, it's humongous! I also appreciate that there were not many people there. Of course the kids got their toys galore that day.

I just bought Jhon a dancing skeleton. He was laughing hysterically whenever he saw it danced so I decided to buy for him. He can put it on his work desk and whenever he is stressed, he can just wind it up. I find the skeleton hilarious too but it's actually overpriced leh.

We later then went to Swenson's nearby to buy an ice-cream cake and celebrated at our place.

Mak's eyes are always caught close on camera.

Thank you Abg for having us!
