Mak's 63rd Birthday

My Mak is 63 already!! I am still amazed on how healthy and fit she for a woman her age. Don't get me wrong, she still get's tired but I guess in comparison to other 50's they are amazed she can handle 3 grandchildren, ages 7-5-4 AND take care of the house. Of course, ever since I stopped working, I lighten her burden lah but she only used that free time to do more chores. Typical mom.

Anyways, Jhon and I celebrated her birthday 1 day in advance since her birthday fell on a Monday. With Jhon working and we would be busy with the kids, we wouldn't have time to prepare a simple celebration. We just bought 2 food/ dessert that she had been craving lately. Qiji popiah and Magnum ice cream. lol

As luck have it, on Monday, Sis and Abg Awil was not working because Irfan had an eye check up, Jhon had his indigestion (ok, not so lucky here) and Shibly & Syihab went home early because Shibly had a tuition, we managed to squeeze a last minute dinner at Swensons.

Obligatory group photos.

Irfan sayang ke choke hold?

Since it was Mak's actual birthday we received a complimentary Happy birthday ice-cream. Horray!

Happy Mak is Happy.

Cucu suap. Jhon macam jealous je.

After dinner, we followed Kakak browse for a bag and before we knew it, the mall was closing so we headed home. hehe

It was nice going out with my Sis because if you are a loyal reader since day one, yang outing2 it's always spent with my Abg. It's also nice to spend time with Irfan outside of home. He is absolutely obsessed with buses, specifically double decked buses.

1st Shawal 2015

Selamat Hari Raya!

Just like last year, I spent most of my Hari Raya at Abang Jamil's house but not before doing final touches, spending time with Ayah at my house for a while.

Every year, I sebak and especially on such an occasion, I am constantly reminded on the entire family dynamic we have.

Anyways, this year, I made Jhon do the salaman officially. Nothing complicated, just "Selamat Hari Raya, Maaf Zahir Batin" First few times, he was stumbling with his words and also was nervous, after a few people, it was smooth sailing. Orang dah confident.... hehe

After a while we headed to Abg Jamil's/ my future home.

Bored after lunch so feeling photoshoot.

It seemed we had the place to ourselves at first but after a few good hours, turns out Abg Jamil was in a deep sleep in his room after his morning Hari Raya solat. lol Mak came afterwards and we had our salaman.

He said he made that face because he is trying to cover his teeth while trying to laugh.

At night, Abang came by with his family.

Shibly and Syihab absolutely adores Abg Jamil and loves hanging out at his place. All they did was play toys.

Suddenly Syihab was bitten by the shutterbug. He was so obsessed in taking photos.

He kept insisting on people saying "Cheese" while taking photos and if we don't, he kept repeating until we did. lol

He asked his dad to hold a toy car for the photoshoot. haha

I told Syihab to take a photo of himself and he actually tried to do a selfie with the DSLR by stuffing his face in front of the lens. After which, we let him experience the timer function which brings out the natural smiles of the family.

Eventually, everyone left. While waiting for Mak and Abg Jamil catch on on a Korean drama, Jhon and I went out for our usual nightly cat feedings.

That pretty much sums up our first shawal.

Iftar With My Bestie

Eh? Dah Hari Raya, baru nak blog pasal Iftar. Yeah, just like every Muslim everywhere I was also busy with the preparations and I also kinda lost track of the timeline to blog. Nonetheless, here it is!

I was chit chatting with Fizah in WhatsApp and we came to a topic that it's been a while since we Iftar together because we would always do it at least once a year. Our friendship is like those rarely meet and seldom talk but our relationship is always solid as a mountain.

So we made effort lah, just a few days before Hari Raya, we double dated at East Point Mall for Pizza because I had been craving for it. lol Orang lain pregnant, orang lain yang craving.

Speaking of which, I completely forget to take a photo of her baby bump. It's so weird but wonderful. Weird because although Fizah's body type is slightly big, she NEVER has a tummy so when I see her boncit, it's weird lah. But of course wonderful because she is growing a baby of her own!

I must make a mental note, when I visit her for Hari Raya, I should take a picture of her baby bump. hehe

It was a great catch up. Sharing stories of recent events of our lives.

After pizza, we moved to McCafe for coffee and continued with our chit chat. It was then I didn't realize how much I miss Fizah's company. We so need to have a one on one quality bestie time together one day.

Picnic, Iftar, Pre-NDP Airshow & Fireworks

Now try to say the title 5 times but faster. hehe

So one of the previous weekends, Jhon and I decided to bring the family for our annual picnic and fireworks viewing and since it fell on the month of Ramadhan, we also broke our fast together.

We try to catch pre-NDP shows as a couple ever since we got together and sometimes we would bring Mak along, this time, with my Bro's family, it was more fun than ever. Kids can just bring out the fun in everything. There are a good source of entertainment. hehe

Shibly and Syihab were obsessed with rocks, sticks and finding "diamonds and iron" just because of Minecraft.

I brought a couple of toys to ensure the kids won't get bored while waiting. First was the old school Styrofoam planes which of course didn't last long (it eventually broke) but it was fun while it lasted.

I later dished out skipping rope which was hilarious to see them figure out to play. No pictures but I got it on video. Vlog will be at the end of this post.

Bro and Shibly had a sprinting competition. Tak padan orang puasa.

Family portrait.

After a while, the airshow began starting with the helicopters with the Singapore flag.

I posted this because I love my hair here. lol Long, thick and the curls was on point.

Weeeee!

Me and the boys.

After the airshow, we had ample time to sit down, prepare the food and broke our fast. Mak and I cooked one of my favorite picnic food which was Bee Hoon Putih with prawns, beef and vegetables. Paired with packet drinks, that was all we had but it was more than enough because we cooked a lot.

After 1+hr waiting time, the finale of our picnic began. Since it was just a Pre-NDP show, I didn't expect very spectacular show but it was rather nice and amazing.

I am so glad we did it with my family. Next year ajak again lah! hehe

Here's my 2nd attempt at vlogging. I am generally happy with it except for the poor quality of the fireworks. I need an upgrade.
