Reminiscing 2010

It is the final day of 2010 and although there were many good and bad moments but these are the ones that are prominent in 2010 for me.

Not in any particular order

I had Lasik Surgery which was one of the best decision I have ever made. Perfect vision is pure bliss.

I went to Bangkok, Thailand for the first time. It was as wonderful as I expected to be and I was glad I had planned an itinerary that caters for everyone, the shopholics and adventurers.

There, for the first time, I held a tiger cub, saw & swam in clear blue waters, took an elephant ride & played "stuntman" with one and ate insects!

Jhon and I did a remake of Van Gogh's painting, 'Starry Night' out of eraser dirt. We were proud of how it turned out.

Jhon and I tried Vegan burgers for the first time and it was suprisingly delicious. We have been avid customers ever since.

My 2nd nephew within my family was born. Muhammad Syihab was conceived by my sister in law on 07 August. He has grown into one chubby and bubbly baby.

Probably the only major bad news in 2010, my dad was diagnosed with Colon Cancer. He is still under treatment and although everything is going smoothly, one does not help but worry.

There was a moment I went museum crazy and went to exhibitions of my favourite topics; Ancient Egypt and a Body Show.

Celebrated our 3 years anniversary and Jhon planned a romantic picnic just for me. The picnic was absolutely perfect and words would not describe how I loved that simple but wonderful day.

I did not go to many concerts this year compared to others but I think I sort of covered most genres.
Backstreetboys, Pittbull and a favourite filipino band, Parokya Ni Edgar.

Lastly, watching movie classic under the stars. It was another awesomely romantic outing we had and was a perfect as I imagined it to be. I can't wait to do it next year!

And that about sums it up, the most prominent memories I have for 2010.

Here is to more simple and yet fantastic moments and lesser bad moments in 2011.

Happy New Year!

Going Senile at 26

It was just another ordinary morning, all ready to go to work and I was opening the main door, taking the house keys from its back and unlock the padlock on the gate.

After I unlock the padlock, I took it off and replace the house keys.

I repositioned myself to infront of the gate and instead of opening the gate,

I replaced the padlock and locked the gate.

I even stood there for a milisecond wondering how was I going to get out.

*facepalm*

You would probably think, "oh, it's just one of those days"

But ladies and gentlemen, I have done it thrice(3) times thus far!!

Of course the last two times, I managed to refrain myself from actually locking the padlock but still!!

Don't know what is wrong with me.

I am going senile. =(

Cooking Spagetti Carbonara for Christmas

It is another year where Jhon is celebrating Christmas without his family. Although he has been free thinker, he can't deny he misses that special family bonding that they have every christmas.

So I tried to make it at least a little bit better by trying to cook one of his favorite food, Pasta.

And we decided upon Spagetti Carbona and the recipe we used is from Oprah where there was one episode where Tom Cruise was sharing his Spagetti Carbonara recipe.
Technically, it was not his own recipe, he said an old Italian lady shared this recipe to him but he somewhat called his own.

Naturally, people are not always generous with their recipes so it was not a suprise that the recipe shared it not 100% perfect.

I realised that 4 eggs vs 2 packets of spagetti is not enough. In fact, we cooked 3 eggs with just 1/2 a packet of spagetti and instead of using bacon, we used chicken slices, the ones that is usually used to make sandwiches because must make this Carbonara Halal for my sake. hehe

Other than that, we followed the directions to the dot.

It was a super simple dish and the verdict?

AWESOME!

Jhon, Sis and my Dad had seconds! Excluding my BIL, Abg Awil who hardly tried because he does not like spagetti in the first place.

Since this is the first time we ever cooked Spagetti Carbonara, there was a little room for improvement. I think it is a little dry so I would probably put 4 eggs next time and be more generous with pepper.

Other than that, it was delicious and everything was gone on the spot.

Most importantly, Jhon is happy because it is all for him.

And he is.

Weeeee!!

Crazy About Bowling

Guess who is crazy about bowling?

It's Jhon!

He has always loved bowling but it has went to another level that he actually bought himself his own bowling ball. Shoes & bowling ball are included in the package.

Eversince, we have been going bowling every week to improve his skills.

Unfortunately, he realized that he is more of a hooker (throws the ball with a curve not a gigolo haha) than a straight shooter like me and the ball is a straight ball.

Sooo... he is selling it to his roomate who actually threw better with the ball than him. hahaha

Well, looks like someone is getting a new ball soon.

SMRT Fails

"From Dec 18 to June 17, 2011, commuters affected by overcharging as a result of the bus stop distance corrections can get a full refund on the spot "

Fail No. 1

To have a distance error in the first place since they were so eager to charge us by distance instead of number of stops. But since technically, nothing is perfect, I think it is not that bad since they are willing to refund the over charges when they could've pretended nothing happen. =P

Fail No. 2

Many people are unaware of such refund. In fact, the TransitLink Add Value Machine & TransitLink Ticket Office/Concession Card Replacement Office was not filled with people as expected on the first day.
Which was weird since Refunds + Singaporeans = Super long queue

Fail No. 3

The refunded money? I expected perhaps $1 or $2 but instead, I was refunded 11cents and Jhon, 6cents!
Turns out that many had the same experience though from watching the news, they had more than us.
Perhaps in grand total, amount refunded is a lot but when it is distributed individually, it is seriously not much.

Jhon barely received 6cents and could've found more change on the ground. Nonetheless, I still appreciate for the refund, its just that it seems the amount was not worth it.

Don't get me wrong, I love public transport and I always believe it is the commuters who always makes the journey uncomfortable for all, not the services but after all this, I can't help but think of their previous but appropriately suited fail....

Right?

Review: Dress Me Masks

I was selected to be one of the lucky few to try 3 out of 7 of their wonderful masks.

I love wearing face masks but mostly that comes in paste form where I need to try to spread evenly on my face but it was undeniably messy and tedious. That is why I love Dress Me Masks.

It is so easy to use!

After washing your face with your usual facial wash, damp your face dry and place any Dress Me Mask of your choice & suitability onto your face. This hassle-free treatment only takes 15 minutes and it is perfect for daily use!

See how the mask is completely drenched with its wonderful ingredients ready to be absorbed into your skin?

I think I look very scary with the mask on so I had one of my favorite pillows to pose with me to make it less horrific and not look like that guy from Hannibal. Anything for beauty... hehe

The Review:

Turning 27 next year, wrinkles are slowly but surely showing up on my face so Dress Me Revitalizing & Firming Mask is the perfect kind of mask to reduce the appearance of my wrinkles. After using the mask, my face looks fresh and I could feel a slight firmness on my skin. Though I think it is a type of mask that would need constant and longer usage to truly see the results.

Being in the construction industry and having to visit the constructon site at least once a month, I definitely constant contact with dust and heat which lead to blocked pores, oily face and skin full of impurities. On days when I visit the site, I would definitely use Dress Me Oil Control & Purifying Mask to detoxify my face. My face immediately felt so much cleaner, breathable and clearer. Definitely my favourite out of the 3.

Lastly, it is the Dress Me Soften & Clarifying Mask. Who does not want soft skin especially on their face? After using the mask, I could not resist but keep touching my face because it felt extra soft and my face looks glowy.

Tron Is Forever Tainted

Tron will always be tainted to me.

I am not taking about Tron: Legacy 2010, judging from the trailer where graphics are splendid with dramatic soundtrack.

I am talking about this guy known as the Tron Guy. Back in 2003, he was very popular in the cyberspace for his obsession for Tron to a point he created his very own costume complete with LED lights.

But it goes beyond that. Well, picture says a thousand words.

Don't worry, he soon after started wearing pads for his crotch.

Sucks for me that everytime I see Tron: Legacy advertisement or trailers, that image will pop in my head.

Jhon, what have you been doing behind my back in Malaysia huh? hehehe

oh yeah, and I just realised that the phone number is an Indonesia Country code.
*scratches head*

Do I Look Like Little Miss Muffet To You?!

In less than a month, insects have successully tormented me in my daily life.

The first would be the praying mantis that came into my room and sat on my knee.

The next one would be a day of spiders. A light green spider hopped on the back of my leg early in the morning while I was heading for work. Luckily Jhon saw it and immediately brushed it off.

During lunch, as I was minding my own business, a spider was creeping down it's web from the ceiling!!!
Naturally, with eyes wide opened, I pointed it out with my finger making incoherent words to Jhon

I am sure from other people's perspective, I looked like I saw a ghost. hahaha! well, yet again, Jhon came to my rescue and made it climb back up.

A few days later, while talking to Fizah on the phone in my room, I saw an insect crawling on my wall. I wanted to ignore it but it was heading to my mom's clean pile of clothes.

As I got closer armed with an abundant amount of tissue, I noticed it was not an ordinary bug! It was wriggling like a worm but it was not. It had feelers and looked like a long version of an ant! Well, I pinched it with the tissue and showed it to my mom. She was disgusted while looking at it wriggled away & she is supposed to be my pest buster (wo)man!

The recent encounter was a grasshopper in my room. Black with a red tip on its body.
Mom managed to shoo it away but after 1 hour, it came back in and refused to go out. She had no choice but to kill it with insecticide.

Why oh why these bugs are bugging me?! Do they sense my fear and decided to play pranks on me like Little Miss Muffet?

To all insects, NOT FUNNNYYYY...

Shahril & Viana's Wedding. (Nice to see, not nice to experience)

He is my cousin on my father's side and I have always think that he is the most handsome cousin I ever had. Not that I have incest thoughts or something, please lah, hor?

Yet again, another wedding that is not conventional. Not that there is nothing wrong to modify the arrangement of the wedding, but it's sad to know that many weddings nowadays are opting out certain traditional acts of a malay wedding.
[I plan to blog/rant about this so watch this space]

We were sort of late and by the time we reached my cousin's place at Jurong, they were already heading to the girl's place at Yishun. It wouldn't be a problem if my Mom, Jhon, Shibly and I are not in the back of Abg Awil's work lorry which has no aircon, no windows etc. Luckily it was in the morning so it was not so humid.

When we reached Yishun, everyone was there and was simply waiting for the "Tok Kadi" who is going to marry them off. Even that arrangement was funny because they didn't exchanged rings after the ceremony so all the while, I was wondering when did they did that? I still don't know. -_-

The father of the bride CRIED while officially announcing that he is giving away his daughter.
Very touching can?

It was after everything was settled and it was phototaking time with the family was where it kinda went shitty. The bride's family seemed to be lost in their own world and were not good hosts to us, the family of the groom.

It was 12am and we were hungry and no one invted us to eat. So my forever brave mom was asking everyone, when can we eat and everyone was hungry.

THEN HOR!! the mother of the bride was sacarstically saying,
"OH! its self-service okay? You can help youself".
It's not about being served, we just thought it would be proper ettiqutte to be invited to eat rather than happily help ourselves while the others are taking photos.

So we all went to the buffet table and lo and behold! Food was NOT ready, not even the drinks!! -_-
And we overheard that they will serve food at 2 -3pm! How can you start an event at 11am and serve food that late? And she lied to our hungry faces!!

I don't know about other family members but we were getting cranky because we have not have our breakfast and had to wait for a LATE lunch but we tried our best being cool, taking our own photos etc.

Eventually, they served the food earlier and you would be amazed the suddenly long queue of the food. We are not the bad guys okay? We just happen to voice out what every one is thinking.

Felt a little better after that, Abg Awil sang a song requested by my Sis and I made Jhon write in the guestbook.

Even signing the guestbook was a little of a commotion. My dear Jhon was already struggling to write in malay while I was whispering to him how to spell and irritating flirty aunties were up and around us, talking so loudly and standing too close to us. I say flirty because I left Jhon for a few seconds to take the camera and they were uncomfortably distrubing my Jhon. -_- He is so stressed that his handwriting sucks. haha

That picture in the guestbook was the most decent & sweet among others.
Why?

Most pictures chosen for the guestbook are the act sexy photos. -_-

Well, the bride and groom finally came down with their 2nd outfit of the day and not with a "kompang" but drum/bongos thingy. I won't deny their outfit looks great accept for her Medusa head gear but the music does not match their traditional outfits at all. =(

We immediately went home after that.

Not before Abg Awil felt sick and vomited in the carpark due to gastric.
Weird thing was I IMMEDIATELY fell sick as soon as I reached home with high fever.

Today was another ceremony but this time, sole on my cousin's side but I was still sick so my family went without me.

As guests, there was a kinda weird experience.

My Baby Photos

Hi! While looking at old albums, I found these! Photos of me taken thousands of years ago. =p
I have hundreds of photos so I just extracted a few to share.

Remember how annoying beauty queens say:
"I am not as girly as you think, when I was young, I was a tomboy,I climb trees."

Well, besides climbing trees, I climb sign posts! top that! *jeling*

Okay, I don't know what am I doing here, perhaps an attempt of a victory dance.

Random shots. I love my carebear. See how it matches my dress. *doe eyes*

Attempt at Dr. Evil's pose.

One of my favorite shot is the top left corner. Very the old auntie, tired from walking. =D

Birthday Partay.

Kaleidoscoping with my sister. She looks so different as a kid.

Peace-ing with my brother.

My "YEAAAAAH!!" face

The Siblings.

This me saying "tunggu sekejap..." Which means "Wait a minute". Something I always say because always pressured to take photos lol

 Swimsuit model. lolol
I'm so freaking fair and look a that hair.
And I have baby muscles.

Last shot of the post.
